Thanks FROM TBBC TO NFBNJ
In an e-mail from: Anne McArthur to Joe Ruffalo with the Subject of "Thanks from TBBC to NFBNJ", Anne wrote:On behalf of Adam and TBBC, I want to convey our heartfelt thanks to you & and NFB NJ for your support during our recent budget crisis. I would appreciate it if you could send out the following update/thanks on your listserve.
Anne McArthur
Thanks from the New Jersey State Library Talking Book & Braille Center (TBBC)
My sincerest “Thanks” to all of our dedicated customers who spoke on TBBC’s behalf during the recent state budget crisis to make sure that funding for New Jersey State Library services continue. Your testimony, calls, and letters to legislators across the state made them aware of TBBC’s services and the value of the program in everyone’s life. Legislators have personally told me how truly impressed they were listening to the personal stories from our patrons. The final state budget has provided the New Jersey State Library with sufficient funding lines to meet the “maintenance of effort” necessary to receive the federal appropriations from the Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA). We are grateful to all of you for your vocal and heartfelt support of the library. We will move our program forward inspired by your support –
Director Adam Szczepaniak
Spotlight on the Imagination Fund
![]() |
The Imagination Fund builds programs of the National Federation of the Blind at the national, state, and local levels. In 2005, the NFB of New Jersey and the NFB of New Jersey Northeast Chapter launched an Internet radio program focusing upon blindness issues. Made possible through a grant from the Imagination Fund, the Thru Our Eyes program with Joe Ruffalo began providing the world with a positive image of blindness at www.thruoureyes.org on March 25, 2005.
Thru Our Eyes celebrated its fifth anniversary in March of 2010, when Joe Ruffalo interviewed Imagination Fund chairman Parnell Diggs. This episode of Thru Our Eyes is an excellent resource for facts about the Imagination Fund and the Race for Independence, as well as tips about how to be a good fundraiser. NFB chapters are encouraged to play this episode of Thru Our Eyes at chapter meetings. This broadcast with Parnell Diggs is one of almost two hundred podcasts available for download from the Thru Our Eyes archive.
